IdScanly / Document Coverage
Identity document coverage and available OCR fields
IdScanly extracts structured data from supported passports, national ID cards, driving licenses and other identity documents. Coverage depends on the issuing country, document version, required fields and image quality.
Use this overview to identify the document categories relevant to your application, then check the formats your customers actually submit.

What document support means for your application
Support should be assessed against the information your process needs. A document may provide a readable name and number while lacking another field your form requires.
The same country can issue multiple document generations. Differences in layout, language, printed content and machine-readable features can affect the returned information.
Field groups to check
- Personal information: names, birth details, nationality and other available holder fields.
- Document references: type, number and issuing country.
- Issuing and validity information: supported issue dates, expiry dates and issuing details.
- Addresses and identifiers: values printed on the document, where supported.
- Document-specific information: fields such as license categories, restrictions or permit details.
- Machine-readable data: available MRZ and supported barcode information.
Some information is document-dependent. An absent address or issuing authority is not necessarily a reading failure; the document may not contain it.
How to check suitability
- Identify the issuing countries and document versions relevant to your customers.
- List the fields your application must collect.
- Evaluate representative images, including the relevant sides of each document.
- Review which fields are returned and which need confirmation or another image.
- Share any unanswered coverage questions with our team before production use.
This review helps establish whether the available data fits your workflow. It does not replace your own document acceptance rules.
