The renter presents an identity document and driving licence. Your software fills separate draft fields; staff compare the reservation and check categories and validity before releasing the vehicle.

### Adding another driver

Create a separate driver entry linked to the same rental. Read that driver's supported documents and require their own entitlement review; the main renter's approval cannot cover them.

## Collect only rental-relevant document data

Avoid copying full document output into vehicle-damage notes or broad customer profiles. Limit rental staff access and retain only justified fields.

A booking match does not prove the presenter is the licence holder. Add the identity and rental checks appropriate to your business.

## Car-rental document questions

Can the OCR result establish driving eligibility?

No. Reading a date or licence field is not a legal determination of entitlement. Category coverage varies; rental policy and applicable licensing rules still need an explicit check.

Does a valid expiry date prove driving entitlement?

No. Category, restrictions, territory and rental policy still require explicit checks.

Can one document number serve both roles?

Keep identity-document and licence identifiers distinct, even when one physical document is used for several administrative purposes.

Are all licence categories guaranteed to be extracted?

No. Validate field availability for your supported countries and document versions before designing mandatory contract fields.
